One of the first things I did was to repair a slow puncture I’ve had on the front tyre – since Turkey… Yeah, I know but it was only a few PSI per day and it was easier just to top the tyre up each day with my small compressor. Lazy I know, but that’s how I am sometimes. When I got the wheel off the Trasnalp I walked away to get my tyre levers, heard a noise and looked around – and the bike had tipped over onto its forks. It seems the Transalp has a lot of weight to the front, so I had to weigh the back end down by putting a stone on the luggage rack.
Another thing I did do was to arrange a new rear tyre for the Transalp. I found a tyre fitter nearby who just happened to have the tyre I wanted, another Dunlop. The Dunlop Mission Raid tyre has lasted me 7 weeks and has done 11,090kms (6931 miles) so considering the luggage, the distance, the roads I’ve been riding and the way I ride – it’s done really well. The new tyre cost £193, including fitting and balancing.
It’s a job done and that’s me squared-away for another few thousand miles, especially as I want to go to Norway next. I’m going to be here for a few days before I hit the road again, just chilling out and catching up. My Son’s neighbour hunts so they have a freezer full of boar, moose and deer. We’ve had one BBQ already and I’ve tried them all. I like the boar and moose, but find the deer really quite nice.
