At Ioannina in Greece I had a new set of tyres fitted. I had emailed a several tyre shops a few days beforehand while I was in Albania and one shop replied saying they could fit Dunlop Trailmax Raid tyres. Perfect. I quickly emailed back to confirm and arranged a day and time. The Trailmax Tour tyres I already had on the bike were good, but I really wanted a 50/50 tyre in case I got the opportunity to go offroad in the next few weeks.
As arranged I got to Patounas Tyres at 10 and by 12 – and two coffees and one panini later in a nearby cafe – I was on my way again. The cost was 400eu including fitting, which I thought was a good price, especially as Dunlop tyres tend to be a bit more expensive.
I’m excited to use them offroad, and it will have to wait – but I did manage to find a track outside the town so took the Transalp for a quick spin on the shale track. My first impressions are they are a bit slippery at first, being new rubber, but offroad they seem to grab the dirt quite easily and they give you lot of confidence. The tyres seems pretty damn good… 🙂
