What can I say about Prague…? Its amazing. I’ve enjoyed every country, town and city I’ve been to on this trip, but Prague is by far the best so far. It is a wonderful city and if you have never been to Prague, then you need to consider visiting because its marvellous. Walking through the ‘old town’ in the daytime or evening it’s a busy old place and has a great buzz about it, and if you want to eat – then you are spoilt for choice as there is so much to choose from.
Everyone I’ve come into contact with speaks English and are so happy to help. Its been a wonderful experience to walk around the city. My campsite is about 10 minutes from the city center, and it only cost me £12 per night for this little oasis of greenery and calm. And the showers are superb. The best yet…! For the past few days I’ve been riding around the city, up and down the hils and through the maze of small streets. You have to keep your wits about you because some of the streets are cobbled and of course, there are the tramlines, which are another thing to watch. The trams are so quiet and so quick, and even when walking you have to be careful when you are near the tramlines.
I honestly expected Prague to be pretty quiet, seeing it was the end of September, but the place is mobbed with tourists of all nationalities. Its a busy old place but the architecture makes it a pure delight to walk along these busy streets. Fortunately there wasnt too much bombing during WW2 so much of the original buildings in the old town are still in existance – which is what makes Prague so charming and unique. From the many bridges over the River Vitava, to all the museums, the eateries and of course, the Astronomical clock – there is so much to see. I have only been here for a few days and to be honest, I think you need at least a week here to see most of what’s on offer.
The weather for the past few days has been stupendous. Sunny, very warm and no rain. Perfect, and tomorrow I’m back on the road again. I was going to head south to Saltzburg in Austria, but looking at the weather forecast the weather is looking a bit grim down south, so I’m heading west towards Nuremberg – as there is still a good temperature and its not too wet. Anyway, thats Prague ticked off my list and now its ‘go west’ old man to see more sights…
