Argentario

That was a great few days in Tuscany. I was going to stay at the campsite in Pomerance for a few more days but there was some rain due so I decided to move on and move south to avoid the rain.

I left my campsite in the morning and headed south to Argentario. It was only a short ride of 110 miles and I got to my new campsite in the early afternoon. The site is near Porto Stefano and it’s a really nice campsite. The area for tents is shaded with lots of tall trees, which is perfect. Ans yet again, I am the only tent here. Maybe its the wrong time of the year but each campsite I go to I’m the only person in a tent. Maybe I’m mad doing this, if so, then I’m happy to be mad… It’s 16eu a night and the electricity is free, though you do have to pay 1eu per shower. fair enough..

Argentario is joined to the mainland by two spits of land: one to the north and one to the south with a large lagoon in in-between. Technically it’s an island but it’s not, it’s still part of Tuscany but the locals do regard it as an island and seeing some of the nearby houses and hotels, I think it’s the kind of place where wealthy people stay. There are two towns on the Island: Porto Santo Stefano at the north and Porto Ercole at the south.

26 degrees today so it was a warm ride, but that’s why I’m here. The sunshine..! I’m going to stay here for a few days before heading south. My only upset today is that I had to buy tea bags…! I love my tea and I love using loose tea – but I’ve lost my gizmo that I use to make my tea. Even using three tea bags it still tastes like hot brown water… looks like I’m going to have to start getting used to coffee.

Anyway, that’s me for a few days, enjoying the sun and a new part of the world.
