Brescia

The campsite at Lago d’Iseo is really very good. I spent a good afternoon exploring the local area and then a day in Brescia – to visit the Mille Miglia museum. The Mille Miglia was a race that happened between 1927 and 1957 and the starting point was at Brescia. I love old cars and the museum has plenty of examples, from Bugatti to Jaguar. It was such a pleasure to see all these cars and the museum was great. It only cost 10eu as well, which was a real bargain.

I also spent a day riding around Lago di Gardia – which is huge – before heading back to camp. Lago do Gardia is hige. Looking on Google Maps it didn’t seem that big, but once you start, it seems to go on and on and when I got half-way around I thought I was never going to get back to the camp. It seems so vast. One of the wonderful things about Italy is the choice of cured meat and cheese that you can buy in the shops, as well as fresh pasta. For the past few nights I’ve been having fresh pasta but on the way back to the camp this afternoon I bought myself some fresh bread, local cheese and prosciutto ham – which I can’t wait to eat.

Tomorrow I’m heading south-west and towards Tuscany. I was thinking about going over to Milan but because I want some sunshine I decided upon Tuscany as there is much to see in that area. I can always come back to Milan another year.
