Joey Dunlop Memorial – Tallin, Estonia

Back in Scotland there are a group o bikers called ‘Fife Bikers’, and aongst them is Lisa. She used to race bikes, one of the first female racers, and during her career she came into contact with the Dunlop family. She knew I was coming to Tallin so she asked me to lay some flowers on JD’s memorial, which I was happy to do.

Joey Dunlop was from Northern Ireland and was a king amongst kings when it came to road racing. With 26 wins at the Isles of Man TT, he was a legend like no other. Unfortunately, in July 2000 he was competing in a road race in Tallin when he died. He’d already won the 750 and 600cc races and it was during the 125cc race that he died. There is a small memorial to Joey. Simple, but poignant.
