Frankfurt

After leaving Saarbrucken, I headed north east and made the short journey to Frankfurt. It only took a few hours on the autobahn. I’m staying at Campingplatz Bürgel Offenbach, which is just south of the river, and convenient for the city. Although it’s a basic campsite, for 14eu a night I can’t grumble at being so close to the city. Just outside the campsite is a pedestrian bridge over the river and on the other side you can catch a tram straight into the city. Just past the tram stop are some excellent shops, with food, drinks – and a lovely pizza take-out, which is far too convenient.

I’m here for a few days to see my daughter who has decided to make Germany her new home. I’ve visited Frankfurt a few times, so no sight-seeing this time.

One thing I did while here was to visit the LOUIS Motorcycle accessories shop. Wow…! It’s huge, and just crammed with everything you can think of. It even had a small cafe outside. Brilliant. I only went in to have a look but ended up walking out with new gloves, an under-jacket, some tools, a helmet lock and a GPS tracker.

If you are in Frankfurt, or passing, there is also a great camping shop just near Louis. BERGER has everything. I stopped there two years ago to buy a new tent as I hated the one I had. Anyway, I stopped for some gas and also happened to walk out with a salt and pepper container and a small solar charger. I need to show more restraints in shops…
