Riding from the Wrocklaw City Center to my Campsite

Today I spent a few good hours in the city centre of Wrocklaw. And what a wonderful city. It’s a beautiful blend of old and new, as well as a thriving, modern, busy and immaculately clean city. Much better than my home city of Glasgow, which is a bit grubby in comparison. I went for a ride around the city first and wherever I went there was lots of building going on, and besides new roads, new buildings and new tram extensions, everything on the outskirts is so big and so new.

Walking around the city center, the sun was truly shining today and althought there was an October nip in the air, if you found a seat in the sun you could honestly get sunburnt. I walked around the market square in the Old Town and also visited the museum in the City Hall. From its origins in 1299, the building was added and added to over the next 250 years, making it what it is today. Completely unique, especially the spire and all the middle-age carvings on the front of the building. And the surrounding buildings on the market square are also so wonderful to look at. And if you want to eat, then this is the place. The whole square was lined with places to eat.

I also walked along the river to enjoy the scenery and the sight of two large churches, of which I think one was their main catherdal. Walking around this afternoon, the city had a really good vibe about it. Old but new, traditional but modern. And a very busy place…

The ride back was a bit hectic as it was close to rush-hour. My campsite is near the Airport, but to be honest, although I’ve heard the occasional jet, its not really bothered me. What has been bothering me is the mozzies. Thank goodness I brought my ‘smidge’ with me. Tomorrow I’m off to Prague, and its going to be a long day in the saddle. I tried contacting two campsites in Prague but they never emailed back so I just hope they’re still open.
