The ride from Wrocklaw to Prague was a really good ride. The journey was a bit over 200 miles because I wanted to make use of the motorways going west towards Germany, and then cut south towards Prague. The motorway was pretty quiet to be honest. I did expect more traffic but was pleasantly pleased as this meant I could cruise at a decent speed. The weather all day was about 19 degrees, which was good for riding.
I crossed the border from Poland into Czechia at Luptin, crossing over where the old border control used to be, and once I crossed over the journey was mostly on rural type roads through hills and forests, except when getting closer to Prague and then it was back to Motorway again. In Germany, Sweden and Poland everything has been fairly flat, but in Czechia there are hills, which took me by surprise because I’ve become used to a flat horizon. Czechia looks beautiful with it’s rolling hills and it’s green and luscious landscape.
The journey took me about five hours, including three stops for coffee and snacks, and one for fuel. The fuel was cheap in Poland, but its even cheaper in Czechia. It’s just over a £1 per litre – which was a bit of a shock. Finding Campsite Hertzog was pretty easy, and it’s not too far from the city centre, which is perfect for me. There’s even a tram-stop about 5 minutes walk from the campsite, with a 15 minute journey into the city. I am so excited to be here and the weather looks really promising….
