BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN…!
Well, the weather is beautiful so there’s nothing better than getting out and going camping. It’s been a few weeks since I got back from Africa so I’ve been waiting for the rain to stop and pining to get back on the road again. It was a bit of a shock when I got back home after my big trip, and I must admit that I wasn’t very happy for a while, but as the weather has improved so has my demeanour – so now it’s time to get back on the road again, but I’m not going too far this time – just into the Argyll.
Today I didn’t go too far, ending up at Ardfern, which is near Oban, but tomorrow I’m heading up to Mallaig to check out the white beaches and beautiful scenery.
I’ve had to replace some of my kit after my last trip, so it’s a good opportunity to test it all out before I go away again in Summer.
Tent: I am using my tepee Tent again because they now have a new inner which is the size of he whole tent instead of half of the tent.
Mattress: I did not like the self-inflating pad I bought from Decathlon, so I’m using a new one, a TRINORDIC Ultralight Inflatable Camping Mat, which I got off Amazon for £39.
Panniers: I bought the Adventure Spec Madigan panniers. I really do wish I’d bought these last year, but better late than never. These bags look great and they have molle-straps on either end of the bag, so I’ve bought some small molle bags to attach to the panniers so hold my fuel bottles, and some smaller items. I’ve also cut to size two sheets of 2mm aluminium plate, which I’ve bolted to the pannier racks. This will help support the panniers.
