Arrochar

Its the 27th of March and the weather is pretty good. Well, it’s dry – which is a bit of a shock after all the rain we’ve had – plus its sunny and pleasantly warm. A good omen for the summer days to come. Hopefully…

Today’s plan was to ride up to Arrochar and then follow some of the logging tracks into the hills, so loading some water and my brew-kit into one pannier and my waterproofs in the other (just in case) I rode up to Arrochar and came off at Succoth and headed north onto a logging trail. After about 30 to 40 minutes of slow riding on the gravel track I stopped and had my long awaited coffee.

In the picture above, we’re looking towards the south west and you can see Beinn Narnain and The Cobbler in the distance.

It’s a beautiful view and it was a beautiful moment because with the exception of the birds and the occasional buzzing of an insect, it was completely silent and devoid of any other humans, cars, bikes, planes or anything else that could make a noise. And sitting on a large boulder and drinking my coffee with such a fine view it was quite a humbling experience when you realise just how small we are when compared against nature.
